Public consultations on antimicrobials

EMA call for consultation

The European Medicines Agency has released for public consultation a strategy for 2016-2020 on antimicrobials.

The draft Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use (CVMP) strategy on antimicrobials for 2016-2020 sets clear objectives and course of action for the next five years, based on a 'One Health' approach. The CVMP’s vision is the availability of effective antimicrobial medicines for the treatment of important infectious diseases of animals with, at the same time, minimum risks to animals or humans arising from their use.

The document open for consultation is available by clicking here.

Comments should be provided using this template. The completed comments form should be sent to vet-guidelines[at] ema[dot] europa[dot] eu.

Please note that the deadline for comments for this guideline is Monday 29 February 2016.

RAND Institute call for participation

You are invited, as a representative of the European College of Porcine Health Management, to complete a survey aimed at European stakeholder organisations that have an interest in issues related to antimicrobial resistance. The survey is part of an evaluation of the EU Action Plan against the rising threats from Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), running from September 2015 to March 2016.

The survey is being run by RAND Europe, an independent research institute, which has been appointed by the European Commission’s DG SANTE to conduct the evaluation. A letter confirming the appointment and outlining the objectives of the evaluation can be found at

The survey will be available for the next eight weeks (until 30 December) and takes 60-90 minutes to complete. Once you start, you can save the survey and return later to finish it (please note the code you will be given).

The full list of questions is available here:  In the online survey, you will be asked whether you are in a position to answer questions on human health, animal health or both, based on your knowledge and experience. Your response to this question will determine which questions you are offered, but the list in the pdf includes all questions.

The survey can be accessed here:

For any questions or comments (or if you do not wish to receive further information about the evaluation or survey), please contact the evaluation survey team at AMR_ActionPlanEval[at] rand[dot] org
